St Nicholas Primary School is proud to announce its recent achievement after winning the Apprentice Employee of the Month Award.

This recognition is a testament to the school's unwavering commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for their children, as well as their dedication to supporting and nurturing their staff.

The school was specifically acknowledged for their exceptional work in taking on their first teaching assistant apprentice, Amelie Fletcher.

Ms Fletcher has shared her experience of St Nicholas Primary School so far, stating, "Since starting at St Nicholas I have enjoyed every single day. I have felt so welcome and comfortable with everyone being so kind and helpful. I have only been here one term and I already have so much knowledge on what I’m there to do.

“I found it very easy to settle in and learnt from other staff members quickly. If I were ever to need any help I know I can ask any member of staff as they are all so helpful.'"

The school, which is part of Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust, appointed Somerset Skills and Learning to help them provide suitable skills, training and support for new recruit Amelie.

Kirsty Biss, co-head of school, expressed her delight in appointing Amelie, highlighting the seamless process of working with Somerset Skills and Learning and the thorough training provided for apprentices.

She added, "If other schools are looking to fill a teaching assistant vacancy, I would highly recommend working with Somerset Skills and Learning.

“We are delighted to have welcomed Amelie to our school team. She has settled into school life and is working in many year groups across the school to allow her to gain experience."

Laurie Wills, from Somerset Skills and Learning, said: "St Nicholas has been a joy to work with, long may the relationship continue!"

Executive Headteacher, Joe Beament, shared his enthusiasm for the award, stating: "We are thrilled to be presented with this award. Providing top-quality education to all our children requires an exceptional team. Our staff members are dedicated, and reflective, and continuously strive to enhance and develop their skills. Being involved in the apprentice programme with Somerset Skills and Learning is a fantastic opportunity to support the upcoming generation of excellent professionals."

St Nicholas Primary School is proud of their success and looks forward to continuing their mission of providing the very best education for all children.
