Janice Cuer and Jane Richardson hosted our most recent members’ evening, each providing us with an hour of entertainment that drew on the dynamic duo’s adventures with the camera in the past couple of years. Both have travelled near and far for several reasons, and we were treated to a range of images that reflect their interests and their skills.

Janice, on trips with husband Martin, regularly visits family in the Midlands where motorcycle museums and arboretums attract attention, but it was the devastation near their holiday retreat near Burton Bradstock, caused by the storms and flooding, that most made us gasp. Martin, meanwhile fishes intrepidly off ever-receding Dorset beaches, whilst Janice quietly practises her ICM! Ever a fan of all things combative, Janice faithfully recorded guns and shelters at the Imperial War Museum and mingled with demonstrators outside Whitehall before exploring the more civilised delights of Little Venice and Battersea Power station on a recent London trip. All this before heading off to the delights of a relaxing cruise to northern Spain.

Jane Richardson inspired the group with images from NASA, taken on a recent trip to America. ( )

Jane on the other hand was preoccupied by her grandson’s wedding in Cedarburg USA on the shores of the Great Lake. She made the most of the trip, but sadly her camera broke and she was forced to get to grips with her mobile phone! Nevertheless, the photos were a credit to her creativity! The ceremony was lovely and the trips to the family farm, complete with turkeys with attitude and a veritable Rockaway-type landscape, filled with ageing machinery, were all well illustrated and accompanied by a humorous narrative that showed how much she enjoyed the trip. A range of images from Disney to the Florida Keys via the NASA Space Centre kept us interested and intrigued, and the sight of Jane on an ancient Harley-Davidison will remain with us all for some time!
